HINTS FOR OPERATION
- LISTEN FIRST!
- "DOPPLER EFFECT" means that the frequency of the satellite will change slightly as it passes by your location. It is usual to adjust the "downlink" frequency on your receiver. You may wish to program several pairs of TX and RX frequencies..(see above "Suggested HT Programing". The higher Mhz the greater the amount of change as the satellite moves towards and away from your location.
- Be "READY" for your a few minutes BEFORE your satellite approaches, keep log, notes, and even audio tape your activity.
- Listen First, DO NOT transmit unlessyou can CLEARLY hear the Satellite "Downlink", otherwise you may interfere with stations you may not be able to hear.
- Know the limitations of your radios and antennas.
- Know your "GRID"...Oahu Grids are generally BL-01 in Honolulu Area,BL-11 Windward Area, (Visit ARRL or AMSAT Websites to find out your "Grid". You will want to exchange grid sections as part of your brief Satellite QSO!
- Consider Purchasing the ARRL "Satellite Handbook"
